A former salon space at 1705 Joseph Guillaume Pl. in the Marigny is set to become a small café. According to permit documents filed with the City of New Orleans, Pete’s Café will have a small kitchen and a seating area with a capacity for 10 guests. Permits indicated that the space will undergo interior renovations to transform it from a salon. What Now New Orleans has reached out to ownership for more information.

The cafe is being planned as the neighborhood is looking to turn the page on a former business that seemed to attract trouble. A new queer bar nearby, called Wifey’s, has taken over the former Iggy’s at 1943 North Rampart St. The previous bar was forced to close after a reported series of illicit and violent incidents.
