Bethesda Thai food enthusiasts have a new reason to be excited. Pattana Restaurant Group, one of the DMV’s most celebrated-and most prolific-hospitality teams, is bringing its elegant and authentic dining concept, Sense of Thai, to the area and its new location is showing tangible signs of progress, reports local media outlet MoCo Show.
In a development certain to make local tummies rumble and mouths water, signage has been placed at Sense of Thai’s new 5314 Zenith Overlook storefront. The DMV area favorite has been planning its Westbard Square location for quite awhile now; the restaurant was first announced in summer of 2024, with construction commencing this July. While a definitive opening date is not yet available, a representative for the brand generously confirmed to What Now DC that Sense of Thai is aiming to be customer-ready in Q1 of 2026.
Sense of Thai burst onto the DMV’s restaurant in 2015, when it opened its first location in Ashburn, Virginia. Since that auspicious debut, the concept has added another location in Chantilly.
Helmed by Chef Porntipa Pattanamekar and her family recipes, Sense of Thai strives to bring a uniquely Thai dining experience to regions where it is missing. In addition to the authentic cuisine, the chain even ensures that the decor comes straight from Thailand, providing customers with a full cultural immersion.
The Pattana Restaurant Group has several other restaurants in its roster, but Sense of Thai distinguishes itself by crafting a sophisticated and delicious dining experience, certain to thrill every foodie. As the website explains: “Sense of Thai aims to elevate all five senses. From the aromatic scents wafting from our kitchen to the visually stunning presentation of our dishes, we’re dedicated to creating a memorable dining experience. Pair your meal with one of our expertly crafted cocktails for the perfect finishing touch.”
