Local attorney Sean Reaves has plans to venture into franchising, inking a three-unit deal with dog grooming brand Sparkle Grooming Co.
“What drew me to the franchise is how they really focus on taking care of dogs and how their commitment is to making dogs happy so that the owners are happy,” Reaves told What Now Atlanta. “That really struck a chord with me. I was looking for an opportunity where I can give back to the community, and I love dogs, so it all aligned very well with my personal interests.”
Reaves is currently looking for locations in Midtown, Buckhead, Sandy Springs, Vinings and Alpharetta. Though no exact locations are available for the initial locations, he expects to open the first spot by February or March.
Reaves plans to draw on his experience as an attorney, where he works on the business side of contract negotiations. He has worked with multiple franchises in the past, and Sparkle Grooming’s attention to the wellness of the dogs as they are groomed attracted Reaves to the brand.
“I’ve been looking to become a franchisee with a brand I can really bond with for some time, so I was really excited to join the Sparkle team,” Reaves said.
To ensure high-quality standards and a safe environment for dogs, the groomers and bathers are trained thoroughly through the Sparkle Grooming Co. program. The locations are also structured to model a high-end salon, where owners can see their dogs being groomed behind glass up front, rather than dogs being taken out of sight to the back to be groomed. In this way, owners can see their dogs being groomed, loved and taken care of.
“The groomers and bathers will be a cut above the industry standard,” Reaves said. “There is excellent training and selectivity that goes into play in hiring the groomers and bathers. They have to really love dogs to be part of the Sparkle team.”
Founded in 2022, Sparkle Grooming Co. functions on a membership-based model so that customers can bring their dogs in for grooming as frequently as they would like.
Eventually, Reaves hopes to expand beyond these initial three stores throughout the Atlanta market and potentially into other regions of Georgia. This growth is part of a larger expansion for the brand, which has awarded 340 licenses across 18 states since April 2024.
“Dogs are put first and foremost — their health, their well-being and their grooming needs,” Reaves said.
