Jersey Mike’s Subs, the national sandwich chain known for its freshly sliced subs made to order, is preparing to open a new location in San Diego at 3065-C Clairemont Drive.
The upcoming Bay Park location will take over the current home of an Orthodontist’s office, franchise owner Sean Patton tells What Now San Diego. It’s hard to give an exact timeline for this opening. Cathy Brown, Area Director for Jersey Mike’s Subs, tells What Now San Diego that while the city’s permitting process has been ongoing for more than six months, the buildout is expected to take approximately three months once permits are issued.
Patton confirmed that this will be his first Jersey Mike’s location in San Diego County. He anticipates beginning construction soon, with a target opening in early 2026. Patton says he was drawn to the Bay Park neighborhood for its strong community feel and believes San Diego offers one of the most promising markets for the brand’s growth.
Originally from outside the area, Patton says he’s developed strong relationships in Southern California and views this launch as the first step in a broader regional expansion. With backing from Jersey Mike’s corporate training team and support from experienced franchisees, he’s confident in the location’s potential and long-term success.
Patton also has his sights set on growing beyond a single store. “Yes — I absolutely plan to continue expanding. Once this location is fully operational, I look forward to exploring additional sites and growing our presence across the San Diego area,” Patton tells What Now San Diego.
Customers at the new Bay Park location can expect Jersey Mike’s signature menu of hot and cold subs, served “Mike’s Way” with lettuce, onions, tomatoes, oil, vinegar, and spices. Founded in 1956 in Point Pleasant, New Jersey, the brand has grown to over 4,000 locations nationwide, known for its emphasis on quality ingredients, including in-store cooked meats and fresh-baked bread.
Editorial Note: A previous version of this article incorrectly stated that this location will be replacing a Starbucks. The new Jersey Mike’s will replace an Orthodontist’s office, and the Starbucks remains open.
